After Verdict, Assessing the Samsung Strategy in South Korea

Abstract:  I was pulled in by the title since I am from South Korea and Samsung is a big company. I didn’t know what they were talking about by the title. I thought, ‘What verdict? Did someone sue them?’ But when I read the article, I was surprised but at the same time it was understandable because it was Apple who was suing Samsung. Apple stated that Samsung stole and copied iPhone and iPad and when they won the case, they demanded for Samsung’s product to be out of American market. However that was impossible considering that Samsun’gs product such as Galaxy already ‘lived through their life cycle’. An International Herald Tribune publisher says that “Copying and clever upgrading are no longer viable… Samsung must reinvent itself as a first-mover…” Many people believe that Samsung copies Apple and that this would happen one day. So now is the time for the Samsung to be more creative and step up.
